Plaid Cymru Wrexham spokesperson Carrie Harper has condemned a belated response to Wrexham constituents in which Tory MP Sarah Atherton says she wants to ‘draw a line’ under the raging Dominic Cummings scandal.
The Wrexham councillor was contacted by local constituents who were dismayed with an email sent to them by the Tory MP after they shared concerns with her office about Cummings recent behaviour.
Cllr Harper said: “I think she’s seriously misjudged how angry people are about this. After failing to comment for days despite requests, she then issues this fence-sitting response where she refuses to call for him to go and instead say she wants to ‘draw a line’ under the whole thing.
“Dominic Cummings is a disgrace, his behaviour inexcusable and the Tory party’s complete failure of leadership at such a crucial time is unforgivable. People have lost loved ones, not been able to attend funerals and haven’t been able to see family and friends for months. Yet this lot think the rules don’t apply to them.
"They’re taking people for mugs and, unless they grow a backbone and stop defending the indefensible, then quite rightly it may well be more than just Dominic Cummings job on the line."
