Borras Park surgery ‘is not functional' according to Plaid Cymru councillor Carrie Harper.
The Queensway councillor said:
"The concerns about this surgery have been ongoing for years but we’re at the stage where it is simply not functional at the moment."I’m hearing regular complaints from patients who are unable to get an appointment and who are enduring long queues on the phone only to be told nothing is available. As a patient there myself I’ve also experienced the same challenges, as have other family members."My daughter tried to get in to see her GP there today after advice from the 111 helpline who told her 'tell your doctor you’ve been assessed by a nurse via 111 and you need to be assessed by a doctor today'. She was told there was nothing the surgery could do, there was no one available to see her."We’re now on our way to A and E - there is no doubt the situation with this surgery is putting additional pressure on that service."
She added that local councillors have held meetings with the surgery and Betsi Cadwaladr health board as well as raising concerns via the council's scrutiny committee but it appears not much is changing.
Cllr Harper added: "This situation cannot continue, patient safety is being put at risk."
