BREAKING NEWS.
Aled Roberts, Leader of Wrecsam Council has been selected to head the Liberal Democrat North Wales Regional list for the Assembly Elections in May 2011. He beat the incumbent AM since 1999, Eleanor Burnham by a comprehensive 143 votes to 88. Congratulations to Aled Roberts; now we have the big bun fight for the leadership of Wrecsam Council...smoke filled rooms and late night phone calls!
Eleanor Burnham, another defection to the Welsh Conservatives then?
ReplyDeleteEleanor Burnham and Janet Ryder not in the next Assembly? How on earth is north Wales going to cope losing these political heavyweights??
ReplyDeleteThat's assuming anyone will vote Lib Dem in the North at the next election...
ReplyDeleteThere are very few LD members in North Wales if only 250 odd voted in the hustings and that was postal votes. If we assume that 80% voted that means that LD membership in N Wales is less than 350, oh dear.
ReplyDeleteActually Eleanor only became an AM in 2001, when Christine Humphreys stepped down as N Wales Lib Dem AM due to illness.
ReplyDeleteQuality control wasn't in it.
My apologies, I forgot about Christine Humphreys.
